On 26 January 2024, planning and consultancy firm CSMM will be awarded the German Design Prize for developing the Fittech office concept on behalf of Munich-based start-up Freeletics. In the 6,500 square metre M4 building in the "Die Macherei" district, CSMM has created a fast-paced corporate architecture that translates the unique Freeletics lifestyle into spatial design. Sport is playfully integrated as a core business: Collaboration and retreat areas, spaces for informal meetings and socialising, as well as lecture and sports areas that unleash inspiration and productivity are spread over five floors.
Freeletics, the leading AI-based fitness and lifestyle coaching app, is already used by millions of people in over 175 countries. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Freeletics has experienced rapid growth of 300 percent and counting, establishing itself as a global sports and lifestyle company. "Challenging and inspiring every member of our team to become the best version of themselves, mentally and physically, has been our vision since Freeletics was founded in 2013," says Daniel Sobhani, CEO of Freeletics.
The open-space concept is impressive, spanning five floors. The indoor and outdoor training areas reflect Freeletics' core business. The 35-metre indoor sprint track and the 25-metre sprint track on the roof terrace of the 6th floor are particularly emblematic of the identity-forming space planning. Conference rooms, workshop areas, and the grandstand with seating promote collaborative teamwork among employees. A stage has been created for lectures, events, and the presentation of the latest sports exercises.
Kerstin Littel, studio manager at CSMM, explains: "The team meets at 7 a.m. for training, breakfast or lunch in the communal kitchen. The aim was to create a vibrant and lively space that reflects the Freeletics dynamic and translates the business area into spatial dimensions. Being honoured with the German Design Award is a special recognition of our work and strengthens our employer branding.
The German Design Award sets worldwide standards for innovative design developments and competitiveness on the global market. The award ceremony and exhibition opening will take place on 26 January 2024 at the Kap Europa Kongresshaus in Messe Frankfurt's 'ambiente' trade fair. The venue is located at Osloer Straße 5 in Frankfurt am Main.
